Nine health care workers have been indicted in federal court in Detroit for two alleged Medicare false billing schemes that totaled more than $14 million, according to U.S. Attorney Terry Berg.
Another 21 people in Miami and Brooklyn also were indicted this week for health care fraud schemes that totaled more than $47 million in false billing as part of a multi-city Medicare Fraud Strike Force coordinated action.
In Detroit, suspects allegedly paid recruiters to find patients willing to feign symptoms to justify expensive testing, including nerve conduction studies, Berg said.
